Malaysia #WCCOA 2016 Recap

What a week it has been! From teams making their international debut to players scoring their first international goal, the 2016 IIHF Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia had no shortage of excitement and was a sign of things to come for ice hockey.

Though host Chinese Taipei and eventual runner up Thailand were a class above the rest, the other participating countries proved that the sport is growing and reaching out to more people. Ultimately, the scoreline was just half the story. The tournament brought together players from different background and created a bond like no other.

This would be the pivotal moment for the sport. Players are more determined than ever to grow the foundation for women’s ice hockey. With continued guidance and an expansion of the program, we are well on our way to being a model program for others to follow.

Many thanks to all who supported the players, officials and the program. Without their help and well wishes, the team would not be able to realize their dream of representing the country. Here’s to many more milestones to come!
